Does LinkedIn support AVI files?
an older Windows container still produced by some capture and screen-recording tools
Yes - LinkedIn lists AVI for organic video on desktop, iOS and Android.
AVI appears in the native-video support table alongside MP4 and MOV. An older AVI still needs to meet the published resolution and encoding requirements. Convert only if that specific file fails; the MP4-only ad specification is not a reason to reject an organic AVI upload.

How do I check whether my AVI file will upload cleanly to LinkedIn?
Open the Koldflux File Doctor, drop in the file, and pick LinkedIn. It reads the container, codec, resolution, duration and file size locally and reports pass / warn / fail against the documented LinkedIn constraints.
