✳ COLOR PROBLEMS
Colors look washed out or oversaturated after upload - causes and fixes
Color can shift between editor and destination when the color space (BT.709 vs BT.2020), the transfer function (SDR vs HDR), or the player's color management differ. Tag your export with the correct color space and avoid HDR tags on SDR sources.
Check these first
- Confirm the source color space and transfer function in your editor.
- Compare the destination's playback with the source on the same screen.
- Check the destination's published color policy for SDR / HDR tagging.
Likely causes
- Color space mismatch (BT.709 vs BT.2020)
Wrong color space tags can desaturate or oversaturate the player's interpretation.
- HDR tags on an SDR export
Tagging SDR as HDR confuses the player's tone-mapping.
Fix it
- Re-export with the destination's color space
Match the destination's documented color space; re-export from the original.
