Subject is cut off or the video is unexpectedly cropped - causes and fixes
Compare the original export with the destination's playback preview. The crop may be in your original, or it may be added by the player's frame. Editing a 9:16 crop cannot recreate detail that was already removed by an earlier crop.
Check these first
- Open the original and compare with the playback preview.
- Identify whether the crop is in the export itself (check frame edges) or in the player (different device / placement).
- Check that important subjects and text sit inside the platform's safe zone.
Likely causes
- Source aspect ratio differs from the player's frame
The player crops to fit its display; the source aspect controls what survives.
- Safe-zone UI covers important content
Captions, profile, like/comment stacks can cover essential content.
- Re-exported from a cropped copy, not the original
Repeated crops stack; re-export from the original.
Fix it
- Export a fresh copy from the original with the target ratio
