Premiere Pro how-to
How to add text in Premiere Pro (Type tool and Properties)
Short answer
Choose the Type tool in the toolbar (shortcut T), click in the Program Monitor and type. Premiere adds a graphic clip to the timeline above your video. To style it, right-click the text and choose Edit Properties, then change font, size, colour, stroke and alignment in the Properties panel. Drag the graphic clip's edges in the timeline to set how long the text stays on screen.

If it doesn't work
| What you see | Fix |
|---|---|
| Text appears behind the video | The graphic clip must be on a higher video track than the footage. |
| Text is hidden under TikTok or Reels buttons | Keep it out of the bottom third and right edge of a 1080 × 1920 frame. |
| Typing moves the clip instead | You are on the Selection tool (V). Switch back to the Type tool (T). |
| Text is blurry in export | Check that the sequence frame size matches the export; scaling a 1080p sequence up blurs text. |

Each step is compared with Premiere Pro's own documentation (linked above) and with the top search results for this task; where they disagree, the maker's documentation wins. Steps without a source link follow the menu names that several current guides agree on.
