CapCut how-to
How to do a voiceover on CapCut (record, clean, voice effects)
Short answer
Move the playhead to where the narration should start, tap Audio, then Record, and hold or tap the record button while you speak; CapCut lays the recording under the video. On desktop, click the microphone (Record audio) icon above the timeline. Afterwards, select the recording to change its volume, use Reduce noise if the room was loud, or add a voice effect.

Levels that keep a voiceover clear
| Track | Starting volume | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Your voiceover | 100% | Raise if it's still quiet after export |
| Original video sound | 0 to 30% | Keep a little for atmosphere |
| Background music | 10 to 30% | Lower further under fast speech |
If it doesn't work
| What you see | Fix |
|---|---|
| Record button does nothing | CapCut has no microphone permission. Allow it in your phone's settings for CapCut, or in system privacy settings on desktop. |
| Voice is too quiet next to the video | Raise the recording's Volume and lower the video's original sound. |
| Echo or room noise | Record closer to the phone in a smaller, soft room, and use Reduce noise. |
| Voice is out of sync with the action | Drag the recording left or right on the timeline, or split it and move parts. |
