CapCut how-to
How to add music in CapCut (library, your file, extracted audio)
Short answer
On mobile, tap Audio in the bottom toolbar, then Sounds to pick from CapCut's library, or Extracted to take audio from another video. On desktop, open the Audio tab at the top, choose a track and add it, or import your own file through Media. Trim the music clip, set its volume, and add a fade-out so it doesn't stop abruptly.

Music levels that sit under a voice
| Situation | Music volume | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Talking video | about 10 to 20% of the voice level | Speech stays clear on phone speakers |
| Music-only clip | 100%, normalized | Matches other videos in the feed |
| End of video | 1 to 2 s fade-out | No abrupt stop |
If it doesn't work
| What you see | Fix |
|---|---|
| Music muted after posting to TikTok or Instagram | The platform didn't license it for your post; add the sound in the platform's own app instead. |
| A saved song disappeared | CapCut's help covers favourite music disappearing when licensing changes. |
| Voice drowned out | Lower the music clip's volume, or use auto ducking if your version has it. |
