Convert across the bit/byte boundary that causes most media-maths mistakes: connection speeds are quoted in bits, file sizes in bytes.
- 100 Mbps in MB/s
- 12.500 MB/s
- 100 Mbps in kbps
- 100,000 kbps
- 100 MB in megabits
- 838.9 Mb
- 100 MB in MiB vs MB
- 100 MiB = 104.86 decimal MB
Storage vendors count in decimal MB; operating systems usually count in binary MiB. Same file, two numbers.
Calculated as: MB/s = Mbps ÷ 8; megabits = bytes × 8 ÷ 1,000,000
What this assumes
- Treats the entered MB as binary MiB (1024 KiB), which is what most operating systems display.
- Network rates are decimal by convention; storage is usually binary. Both appear above deliberately.
Koldflux works these numbers out for you when it exports - the calculators exist because our own pipeline needed them first.
