The best times to post on Facebook are weekday mornings, around 6-10 a.m. in your audience’s local time: Buffer’s analysis of 14 million posts ranks Thursday at 9 a.m. highest, and Hootsuite’s top slot is Tuesday at 5 a.m. Sprout Social instead sees the most engagement on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12-8 p.m. Buffer and Sprout both rank the weekend lowest.

Morning or afternoon on Facebook
Two of the three studies point to early mornings: Hootsuite’s best time is between 5 and 8 a.m. on every day except Monday, and Buffer’s single best hour is 10 a.m. or earlier on Tuesday to Friday and on Sunday. Sprout Social, which counts when engagement happens rather than which posting hour performs best, finds midday to evening busiest on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Limits and when to use something else
- Study times come from their customers’ accounts, mostly brands. Your audience can differ, especially outside the US and Europe.
- A great slot does not rescue a weak post: the first seconds of a video or the first line of a caption matter more than the hour.
- Where the studies disagree, neither is wrong; they measure different things. Test instead of picking one.
