How to split a video in CapCut (phone, PC, auto Split scenes)
Short answer
Tap the clip in the timeline, move the playhead to the frame where you want the cut and tap Split in the bottom toolbar. On CapCut desktop, click the Split icon in the toolbar above the timeline or press Ctrl-B (Cmd-B on Mac). Each part becomes its own clip that you can delete, move or edit; splitting doesn't re-encode or lower quality until you export.

Method 1: CapCut mobile
Select the clip
Open the project and tap the clip in the timeline so it's outlined in white.
Place the playhead
Scroll the timeline so the white playhead line sits on the frame where the cut should go. Pinch to zoom in for frame accuracy.
Tap Split
Tap Split in the bottom toolbar. Repeat for more cuts, then tap a piece and Delete to remove it; the clips close the gap.
Method 2: CapCut desktop
Park the playhead
Click the timeline ruler where you want the cut.
Split
Click the Split icon in the toolbar above the timeline, or press Ctrl-B (Cmd-B).
Remove the extra part
Select the piece you don't want and press Delete. The main track magnet closes the gap automatically when it's on.
Method 3: Split automatically
Split scenes
On desktop, right-click a long clip and choose Split scenes. CapCut cuts it at each scene change so you can rearrange or delete shots.

Does splitting a video in CapCut lower the quality?
No. CapCut says splitting only divides the clip; nothing is re-rendered until you export.
How do I cut out the middle of a video in CapCut?
Split at the start and the end of the part you don't want, select that piece and tap Delete.
Can CapCut split a video into equal parts?
There's no equal-parts button; split manually at the times you need, or use Split scenes to cut at scene changes.
